I did the Fat Bike Series ride again last weekend. It was a great day, just a little windy. Warm, so warm in fact that I saw a caterpillar on the concrete, making his way across a bit at a time. I don't care what the science or other quackery says about climate change, winter anymore is no longer a test of endurance. It's a short bit of cold weather, a bit of snow here or there, and some gloomy days strung in between some nice days. There, that should jinx next year pretty solidly.

Am I blind or does that Genesis bike have no brakes?
You may well have vision problems, but you cannot see the brake from this angle. It has a kick brake like the good old days. By the way, those are 32 inch tires/wheels. Look at your current wheels and add 7.5 cm! Easily the longest wheel base on the trails.
That's amazing. Must be a good ride as I really notice the difference on my new bike compared with the old and there's only three inches difference. The old kick brake is not something we Brits are used to; it's an American thing I think. I remember in 2013 I rode an old Schwinn style bike along Venice beach and it had the pedal backwards brake (is that what you mean?). Takes a while to get used to. But yeah, I like the Genesis. Nice looking machine.
I got it wrong in my last comment. I said I hired a bike at Venice Beach in LA, but I forgot completely that I didn't hire one, I just wished I had. Strange how the old memory plays tricks. I walked the length of the beach and ended up in a Mexican restaurant at the end of a pier. It was great and I wished I had hired the bike. It was on Miami beach that I hired a bike with a braking system like the one you describe, but that was way back in 2007. It might not be exactly the same, it's the type where you pedal backwards to stop it. Great, though. Hope all is well.
