Low Riding The HTT

A pair of ratty classics.

As a treat to myself, I used one of my last two "kid-free" days off to go for a bike trail ride. Last week I did a single speed gravel grinder and it was good, but I need variety these days. So I dug out my most outrageous bike, the Schwinn I call Hardley, and made a run for the Madrid start.

This bike is somewhat of an attention getter, as it is old, has white fatties on it, and a very, Very, VERY low riding position. It's chopped only in the sense that the seat post is outside the seat tube, and the bars are lower than the top tube. LOW my friends. But I have to say, it's no problem to ride it for long distances as long as you don't try to mash the pedals. Just turn big circles and enjoy the scenery. Well, I stopped on the observation platform to observe, duh, and this guy and his buddies started going apeshiznits over the bike. Like over the top crazy ape shizzle! Well, sure enough, one of them wanted to ride it, and he said it was "the coolest damn bike I've ever seen!" I felt a little proud just explaining the easy mods I had done to it. They were still scratching their heads as I rode away, trying to figure out from the pictures they took just exactly what I was riding.
A few pictures tell what my words cannot. This trail is so cool. Come and ride it sometime and you'll understand. Until then, Keep It Real! Later!

Too bad some no-goods stole six of the LED lights recently. I would love to throw their asses off the bridge!

I LOVE that bike and the crazy bridge behind it. How ya doing, Mr Gravelo? We're all okay over here in the UK, got a big ride this weekend. Well, I say 'big', but it's only 35 miles, for charity. Last year it was 50, but they shortened it for some reason. Still, the weather's hot over here right now so it should be good. Later! Matt.

I'm good Moggy! I can't believe the bridge is in my county. Some times the good things that should get developed in this world actually DO find a way to come to fruition. The view, daytime or night, is so neat. If I can find a way to video a crossing and post it, it will show up here. I was sorry to read about your Dad's passing. Hope you'll begin to feel OK on your ride this weekend. It's good to get out there sometimes, even better other times. Have a good one!

Pretty slick custom job on that front fork! Is it part of a top tube, seat tube and rear stay, welded to the fork? Fucking AWESOME!

Squirrel, you nailed the frame section that I grafted on there. Non-bike people can't grasp the concept....What???? It is all bolt-on as I have no welder. I'll do a photo expo on it so you can throw one together if you want to some time. There's one part I think kicks ass, and it's hidden in the top tube area. I can't believe you got your Gray Ghost back, that's awesome! Later my friend!

Amen to the Ghost Greg, that was just crazy. Those dudes MADE MY DAY! I can't believe some young'n would even take it. A close up of that fork would be kick ass. I just happen to have those exact pieces left from my old red World Traveler (looked last night) I crashed a few years ago. Made a wine rack outta the down tube/most of the seat tube:)
